Workplace observation and change

Understanding how work happens.

Better workplace decisions, built on evidence, observation and people-centred change.

Services

Two services, one purpose:
workplaces that work for the people in them.

Utilisation and observation studies

Evidence of how your workplace is really used.

Trained observers record how every workpoint, meeting room and shared space is used, at set times across a typical week.

You get a clear, independent picture of demand to guide decisions on space, mix and new builds.

Change management

Getting people through space-related change.

Planning, engagement and practical support for staff moving into new or shared workplaces, built on the ADKAR model.

From the first briefing to the weeks after the move, people know what is changing, why, and what it means for them.

Approach

What guides the work

Rigour matched to the question

Each study is designed around your purpose, your site and your budget, so the method fits the decision you need to make.

Evidence you can stand behind

Findings come from direct observation and are reported plainly, with their limits stated, so decisions hold up when they are tested.

People at the centre

Workplace change succeeds when the people affected understand the reasons and help shape the result. Every study and every plan is built around them.

Senior attention from start to finish

You work with me directly: the person who scopes the work is the person who delivers it.

Experience

Studies across universities, hospitals, government and corporate offices.

From about 55 spaces to 2,544 across 13 buildings.

2,544
spaces observed in the largest single study
576,173
observations recorded in that study, over 38 days

“Dean led a semester-long study of how our work, research and learning spaces were being used. What set his work apart was how he turned that data into clear, practical guidance. It gave the Faculty of Engineering and IT the evidence we needed to shape and implement our workspace and teaching strategy with confidence.”

About

I'm Dean Kimpton.

I run Revalo from the Central Coast of NSW.

I have designed and run space utilisation studies since 2017, and I lead change programs for workplace moves with universities, hospitals, government and corporate clients.

The two go together: evidence tells you what the workplace needs, and good change work brings people with you.

You will also find me at Six Ideas, where I lead the change management side of the practice. Same person, different letterhead.
